Francesco “Frank” Lentini was born on 18 May 1889 in Rosolini, Italy to Natale and Giovanna Falco. Lentini was born with a parasitic twin which made him to have his twin attached to the base of his spine.
When he was eight, he moved to United State of American in 1897 with the help of a man who ran a traveling puppet show and joined sideshow business as “The Great Lentini” with the Ringling Brothers Circus. With his disability, he was popularly known over forty years and worked in different popular circus. He was tagged “The King” among his group because he is a one of a kind. When Lentini was still young, he used the third leg to kick a ball on the stage and his show named “the Three-Legged Football Player”. Lentini’s left leg was slightly different from his right leg, which is 39 inches to 38 inches and the third leg measured 36 inches. He fell in love with Theresa Murray, the two got married in 1907 and had four children before Lentini and Theresa break up around 1935. Frank didn’t stop loving but moved on and began a new life with Helen Shupe, with whom he lived until his death. Lentini died of lung failure in Jackson at the age of 77 on September 21, 1966 of lung failure.
